A direct method of teaching, also known as the natural method, is rarely used for foreign language teaching. 

It was established in Germany and France in 1900 and differs from the grammatical translation method and traditional approaches.

It is important to know that the basic idea of the direct method was to have more oral interaction, to make spontaneous use of the language, without translation of the first and second language, with or without any analysis of grammatical rules.

The direct method is on target, it is used or can be used in everyday situations, as it is very effective in creating fluent speakers of the language.

This direct method effectively helps the learner not only by asking him/her to do a translation, but can also ask him/her to complete sentences or read literary works.
